Chris has been the brewer at Old Spot Brewery for the last 8 years.
He set up Old Spot along with his parents and a lifelong friend Julian and all have been overwhelmed by their success over the last few years.
Chris has worked all over the country most of his life and yearned to work near home in the village he was brought up in along with the last 4 generations of his family. When the George Hotel came up for sale after lots of discussions with Jo his life partner they decided to buy it to make it their future working together.
The George is now the Old Spot Brewery Tap showcasing Old Spot ales in premium condition.
A traditional English bitter although finished with American cascade hops, this outsells all other beers by far.
To suit the general palate mildly hopped with a hint of sweetness. Struggling to name it Chris & Julian both stood in the brewery doorway overlooking Cullingworth could see the church spire next to the George Pub hence inn (pub) spired (church spire) tacky but true !
Light but dark
A chestnut session ale without the usual strong maltiness usually associated with this coloured ale especially developed to tempt smooth flow drinkers back into reality.
Again cascade hops are very dominant here this is our light coloured hoppy beer. Loved by many.
Dark Side Pup
A black in colour, full bodied dark mild.
Spot ‘o’ Bother 5.5% abv
For the serious porter lover this has won more awards than any of our ales.
Aptly named for 2 reasons 5.5% abv plus easy drinking beware !!!
As well as a real pain to make in the brewery due to the fine particles in the dark malts used has a tendency to stick in the mash tun, many a hour has been spent idling away during sparging.
