We now have new menus at The George. Click here for more.
We like to think we provide way above average pub food, in fact to exceed people’s expectations of what a village pub usually offers, service as well.
All our dishes are freshly prepared on the premises by our chefs who actively seek out specialist local suppliers who can guarantee the quality ingredients that we insist upon.
Our dishes can be as simple as the traditional classics like steak & ale pie and fish & chips to top end bistro food such as blackened Cajun salmon and chicken Neapolitan, our king prawn & smoked salmon tagliatelli is a definate favourite.
We also offer an ever changing specials board with, amongst others, fish which our head chef specialises in. For example a recent favourite pollock wrapped in our very own home cured streaky bacon sold out immediately.
In fact, within reason, our chefs are quite happy to take orders “off menu” should we have the ingredients to hand.
Sunday lunch is slow cooked brisket, this is cooked in our very own ale served with a thyme infused gravy, roast potatoes, mash, a Yorkshire pudding and veg of the day.
The Lite Bite Menu
This is available from Monday to Friday between 12 and 5pm. Lighter versions of some of our favourites, with a range of sandwiches, omlettes and side orders.
Slow cooked brisket, this is cooked in our very own ale served with a thyme infused gravy, roast potatoes, mash, a Yorkshire pudding and veg of the day.
The Famous George Pie
Succulent chunks of prime British beef cooked in our own award winning OSB (old spot bitter) topped with an all butter puff pastry- a great British classic.
The George BurgerAfter a lot of development (and tasting) our chefs came up with what now appears to to be somewhat of a challenge to people in the know.
A whole pound prime British beef burger topped with rindless back bacon and a choice of cheeses, cheddar, Stilton, or mozzarella, accompanied by chunky chips and side salad, topped with onion rings.
Will you take it on and finish it ??????
